Simple, not complicated

The best thing about 316 stainless steel and 18k PVD gold is that they require minimal maintenance. This guide tells you everything you need to know—it takes two minutes to read.

How to clean your jewelry

You don't need anything special – what you already have at home is enough.

  • Lukewarm water + mild soap – a drop of dish soap or hand soap is enough. Rinse under the tap for 30 seconds.
  • Soft toothbrush – to reach into chains, settings, and more difficult spots. Brush gently.
  • Dry thoroughly – use a soft cloth and wipe the jewelry thoroughly. Do not put it away wet.

That's all. Do this once a month – or when the jewelry feels a bit dull – and it will stay beautiful for a long time.

Storage — when you're not using them

316 steel does not require anti-tarnish bags or special storage like silver does. However, a couple of simple habits will keep your jewelry in top condition for longer:

  • Store them dry — do not put away jewelry wet. Dry them first if they have become wet.
  • Separate them — store jewelry separately from each other to avoid scratches, especially on softer PVD surfaces.
  • Avoid direct sunlight — prolonged exposure to strong sunlight can affect the PVD plating over time. Store in a box or jewelry storage, not on the windowsill.
  • Use the original packaging — our packaging is designed to protect the jewelry. Perfect if you aren't wearing a piece of jewelry for a while.

Our jewelry can withstand most things — but there are a couple of things that can affect them over time.

This you should avoid

Is there anything I shouldn't do?

Yes, a few things to keep in mind:

Avoid strong chemicals— cleaning agents, bleach, and acetone (nail polish remover) can damage the PVD plating. Remove your jewelry when cleaning with strong agents.

Avoid long periods in chlorine— diving into a pool for a second is fine, but if you swim very regularly, it's wise to remove your jewelry or rinse it afterward.

Avoid ultrasonic cleaning— do not use ultrasonic cleaners for PVD-plated jewelry. The mechanical vibration can negatively affect the plating.

What if the jewelry gets scratched?

316 steel is a hard material and does not scratch as easily as silver or gold. Minor surface scratches can occur with intensive daily wear – just like with all jewelry. Most scratches are barely visible and give the piece of jewelry a natural patina over time. If a scratch bothers you, you can gently polish the jewelry with a soft polishing cloth.

About Sensitive Skin

316 surgical steel is a skin-friendly material for many with sensitive skin. The material contains nickel as part of the steel alloy, and skin reactions can vary from person to person.

If you have a confirmed metal allergy, we recommend consulting a doctor before use and stopping wearing the jewelry if irritation occurs.
